Made-to-Order Terms

These terms cover parts that JEK Systems makes to a design you give us, such as an RF lens you design in JEKray and send us as a quote request. They sit alongside the quote we send you; where the quote says something different, the quote applies. How we handle personal data, and the designs you send, is set out in our Privacy Policy.

1. Quotes and orders

• A quote request is not an order. We check the design, and reply with a price, a lead time and any changes the design needs before we can make it. We may decline to quote for a design.
• A quote is valid for 30 days unless it says otherwise. The contract is made when you accept the quote and we confirm the order in writing.
• Prices are shown with VAT where it applies, and with delivery where the quote includes it.

2. What we make

• We make the part to the design you sent, in the material and to the dimensions in the quote, within normal manufacturing tolerances. Where a tolerance matters to you, tell us before you accept the quote and we will state it.
• We may make small changes that do not change what the part does, such as to its edge or mounting, to make it manufacturable. Any larger change we agree with you first.
• Performance figures are expected values, not guarantees. Figures such as focal length, loss and beam size come from simulating your design. The finished part should come close to them, but the material’s properties vary a little from batch to batch, and the result also depends on how the part is mounted and used. The physical specification in the quote is what we commit to.
• You are responsible for the design itself: that it does what you need, and that you have the right to have it made.

3. Cancelling

• Parts made to your design cannot be cancelled for a change of mind. They are made to your specification, so the 14-day right to cancel that applies to most online purchases does not apply to them. This does not affect your rights if a part is faulty or not as agreed (section 5).
• You can cancel free of charge until we confirm the order. After that, if you ask us to stop and we can, we refund what you paid less the work and material already used.

4. Payment and delivery

• We take payment as the quote states, either in full when you order or on invoice.
• The lead time in the quote is our estimate. If we will miss it, we tell you; if the delay is long, you may cancel and have your payment refunded.
• The part is your responsibility once it is delivered.

5. If something is wrong

Tell us at [email protected] as soon as you can. If a part is faulty, or not made to the agreed specification, we will remake it or refund you.

If you are a consumer, you have legal rights in relation to goods that are faulty or not as described, and nothing in these terms affects them. If you buy for a business or other organisation, our total liability for an order is limited to its price, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss or lost profit. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that the law does not allow to be limited.

6. Your design stays yours

• The designs you send us, and the parts made from them, belong to you. We use a design only to quote for it, make it, and help you with it afterwards.
• We keep your design confidential. We do not share it with anyone outside JEK Systems, and we do not publish it, show it as an example or make it for anyone else without your written permission.
• We keep a copy with the order’s records, so that we can make the part again if you ask and for our accounts. Ask us and we will delete it once we no longer need it for those records.
• JEK Systems keeps its own know-how about how parts are made.

7. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings there. If something goes wrong, please contact us first; most problems can be sorted out quickly.
