JEKrayPro Terms
Version 1.4, 7 October 2026
These terms cover JEKrayPro (formerly called JEKray Pro), the paid subscription from JEK Systems that adds a cloud account to the JEKray optical bench simulator: saving benches online, version history and team workspaces. The simulator itself stays free and is covered by the JEKray Licence, which also applies when you use it with a JEKrayPro account. How we handle personal data is set out in our Privacy Policy. By creating an account or taking out a subscription you agree to these terms.
1. Your account
- You sign in with a Google account or a Microsoft university or work account. Keep that account secure: anything done when signed in as you is treated as done by you.
- Each account is for one person. Teams share work through a team workspace, not by sharing a sign-in.
- You must be at least 13 to have an account, and subscriptions must be bought by an adult.
2. Plans and prices
- Individual: £9.99 a month, or £99 a year.
- Academic: £4.99 a month, or £49 a year, for current students and staff of a university or similar institution. You qualify through an email address at your institution: the one you sign in with through Google or Microsoft, or one you confirm by typing in a code we email to it. The check lasts a year, and we ask you to confirm again after that. If you have no such address, email us and we will check by hand. If you stop qualifying, your subscription moves to the Individual price at its next renewal, and we will tell you before it does.
- Team: £9.99 per seat a month, with a minimum of 3 seats. Owners, admins and editors take a paid seat; viewers do not.
- Institutional: by written agreement with JEK Systems. Contact [email protected].
The price you pay, including any VAT that applies, is shown before you pay. We may change prices for future billing periods with at least 30 days’ notice by email; if you do not want to continue at the new price you can cancel before it applies.
3. Payment and renewal
- Payments are taken by Stripe at the start of each billing period. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel. For yearly plans we email you a reminder before each renewal.
- Adding seats to a team is charged straight away for the rest of the current period. Removed seats come off at the next renewal.
- If a payment fails, we will email you and Stripe will retry. Cloud saving keeps working for 7 days; after that it stops until payment is made, but you can still open and export your benches.
- Invoices, card details and plan changes are managed in Billing, which opens Stripe’s secure customer portal.
4. Cancelling
- You can cancel at any time in Billing. Your subscription continues until the end of the period you have paid for and then stops; we do not refund the rest of a period, except as below or where the law requires.
- Deleting your account (Delete account in the account menu) cancels your subscription straight away rather than at the end of the period, and deletes your personal workspace and its benches at once, as our Privacy Policy describes. The rest of the period is not refunded, except under the 14-day right below.
- 14-day right to cancel. If you are a consumer, you may cancel within 14 days of first subscribing (or of moving to a yearly plan) for any reason. Because the service starts as soon as you subscribe, we refund what you paid less a proportionate amount for the days you had the service. To use this right, cancel in Billing and email [email protected], or simply email us.
5. When a subscription ends
When your subscription ends, your account and your cloud benches stay. You can still sign in, open your benches to view them and export them, as files or all together, for as long as you keep your account; you cannot edit them or save changes to the cloud. The same applies to a team workspace whose subscription ends. Subscribing again restores full access straight away. Benches you have saved to your own device are not affected.
6. Your benches belong to you
The benches, files and results you store with JEKrayPro are yours. You give JEK Systems permission to store, copy, process and display them only as needed to run the service for you and for the people you share them with. We do not look at your benches except when you ask us to, for example to help with a fault, or when the law requires it.
Benches in a team workspace belong to that team: if you leave the team or your account is deleted, they stay with the workspace. Keep your own copies of anything important; JEKrayPro keeps history and backups, but we cannot guarantee that no data will ever be lost.
7. Fair use
JEKrayPro is for storing and sharing JEKray benches, not general files. Each bench may be up to 2 MB, and storage, history included, is up to 1 GB for a personal workspace and 10 GB for a team, far more than normal use needs. You must not:
- store anything unlawful, or anything that infringes someone else’s rights;
- try to reach accounts, workspaces or data that are not yours, or test our security without our written permission;
- overload the service, get round its limits, or access it by automated means other than the JEKray app;
- resell or share access to a subscription outside the seats you have paid for.
8. Teams
The owner of a team workspace is responsible for its subscription and decides who belongs to it and what role each person has. Owners and admins can invite and remove members and see the workspace’s activity record. If you set up a team for an organisation, you confirm that you are allowed to accept these terms for it.
9. The service
We work to keep JEKrayPro available and your data safe, but we cannot promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted or free of errors. We may improve and change features; if we remove something important that you pay for, we will give you notice and you may cancel and receive a refund for any part of a period you have paid for and not used. The simulator’s results come with no warranty, as the JEKray Licence explains.
10. Suspension and closure
We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, after warning you where we reasonably can. If we close an account without a breach on your part, we refund any unused part of a period you have paid for and give you at least 30 days to export your benches. If we ever stop offering JEKrayPro, we will give at least 90 days’ notice and keep export working throughout.
11. Liability
If you are a consumer, you have legal rights in relation to services that are not provided with reasonable care and skill or as described. Nothing in these terms affects those rights. We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill, but not for loss that was not foreseeable, nor for business losses.
If you subscribe for a business or other organisation, our total liability to you in any 12 months is limited to the amount paid for JEKrayPro in those 12 months, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit or lost data.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that the law does not allow to be limited.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will email account holders at least 30 days before a change that affects them takes effect; if you do not accept it, you can cancel before then and receive a refund for any unused part of a period you have paid for. The version and date at the top will change.
13. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings there. If something goes wrong, please contact us first; most problems can be sorted out quickly.
